Andre Fulton, Sr.

On Thursday, August 8, 2024, Andre Fulton Sr made is transition from Earth to Glory.  Andre Fulton Sr. was born to the late Shirley and Roy Fulton Sr. on February 3, 1967, in the city of Philadelphia, PA.  At an early age Andre dedicated his life and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of his Pastor and uncle Bishop Samuel Prince Fulton.  Andre was very involved in the church since a child.  He served on the Youth Usher Board and Youth Choir.  In early 2000, he was appointed as Trustee.  He was a member and served his church for well over 40 years up until his transition.  Andre favorite scripture is Numbers 7: 1-2.

Andre was educated in the School District of Philadelphia, where he attended John F. Hartranft Elementary School, Fitler Academy and graduated and earned his high school diploma at George Washington High School in 1986.  At his high school graduation, he received a certificate for Perfect Attendance and Academic Achievement. 

Andre affectionately known as “Slurp” later became a proud parent of Andre Fulton Jr.  Andre enjoyed parenting and spending time with his family.  Along with raising Andre Jr.  He also raised his nieces Stacey and Mariah and cousin Precious.

Andre had a great love for sports.  He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy Fan.  In addition, he became an avid supporter of the Oak Lane Wildcats on and off the field when Lil Dre began playing football.  Andre had great conversations and touched many lives of the players, parents and coaches alike.  He was also the coach of the Dew Drop Baseball Team and Youth Basketball Team.  In his pass time he would go watch Softball at Fernhill Park or 33rd and Diamond.

In August 2007, Andre met his wife Michelle who he called his Esther and he was her Mr. Charles.  After dating for 8 years, they united as one on August 14, 2015.  Where there was he, there was she.  They enjoyed spending time with each other and their family.  He always told his wife, we not dressing alike, as you saw they always complemented each other with their fashion.  Andre loved fashion, from shoes, scarfs and man bags.  Andre also loved to cook on the grill making his Brisket, Pork Ribs and Frying Turkeys and Chicken.  Michelle and Andre would have cook-offs for who makes the best Mac and Cheese and Andre would always win.

Andre worked for several different companies before he was blessed to get a job with the Philadelphia Gas Works where he worked in the meter shop under Von Morgan who he called “my brother and my friend”.

Andre was a people’s person.  He was the life of the party.  He was a human jukebox and knew just about any song.  He loved to crack jokes and make people laugh and smile. He loved to live life, partied, and went to shows, crab feasts, ski trips and family outings. Although he had a way with people, Sugar bear and Slurp would fuss every time they were in each other presence, that was their way of showing their love for one another.  Andre had favorite sayings “ I’ll drank to that” and “Can’t Complain and Won’t Complain, which was not just a saying but what he meant.  He wouldn’t complain.  Andre love for people was not just while they were living.  His wife called him a funeralgoer because he always wanted to pay his respects to those who preceded him in death.

Andre was preceded in death by his father Roy Fulton Sr, his mother, Shirley Coleman Fulton, his brother, Roy Fulton Jr and one son Duane Hicks Jr.  He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife Michelle, his two sons Andre Fulton Jr and Derek Waters, two daughters Duanea (Tanaya) Williams and Lisa Leach, his grandchildren, Andre III, Aaren, Adonis, Aasir, Duane Jr, Zion, Tristian, Skylar, Shakur and Ahmad, his mother in-law Eva Leach, his brothers Brian (Shequeeta) Johnson, Bruce Johnson, Gary “Sugarbear” (Mary) Fulton, Tyrone Bailey, brother in-laws, Anthony Leach, Bryant Leach and Cordy Leach, his sisters Barbara Lecoin, Renee Johnson, Matina Fulton, sister in-laws Kelly Leach and Katie Leach, one uncle Bishop S. Prince (Dorothy) Fulton and one aunt Brenda Coleman, Nieces, Stacey, Mariah, Danielle, Dedria, Shanae, Ashley, Brianni, Jordan and Biana Nephews, Mark, Curtis, Jordan Brandon, Brian and Brashaun and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and the Fairhill Village.
