We are not here to mourn, but to celebrate the life of Andrea Lamb-Reason, better known as “Lay Lay”. Andrea was born on July 12, 1970, at Episcopal Hospital to the late Willie and Charlotte Lamb.
In 1982, at Emmanuel Institutional Baptist Church, Andrea dedicated her life to the Lord, carrying on the tradition of always keeping God first. Lay was recognized for her singing talents, whether in the school choir or the Philadelphia Youth Mass Choir with Bobby Jones.
Andrea was educated in the Philadelphia School System, where she had wanted to pursue her dream of being a mortician. However, God had other plans, and motherhood became her priority. Andrea was blessed with three beautiful daughters: her twins, Brittany and Latoya, who were born in October 1987, and Lashea, born in January 1995. In addition to her responsibilities in caring for the family, one of Andreas' favorite pastimes was talking on the phone with her Aunt Jeanne. Her second mother. “My Twit” will forever be her name.
Andrea was also known for her generosity, always ready to help others, offering support from housing to food, and guiding people toward independence. She loved shopping with her mother, Charlotte Lamb, and her cousin Adrainne, especially on Black Friday. They could shop all day as long as Lay had her Pepsi.
In 1995, Andrea met the love of her life, Robert Reason. “Mr. Reason” is what she called him. On September the 8, 2017, she became Mrs. Robert Reason, and the love and support through the years created a bond that some can only dream of. Their favorite song was “Love Me in A Special Way”, by El Debarge, a song that held a special meaning for them both.
Another one of her favorite songs was “Take Me to the King” by Tamela Mann. She could listen to that song for hours, knowing that her personal relationship with the Lord was soothing to her soul. While Lay faced many challenges in her life, nothing stopped her from making sure that everyone was okay. That was the gift that was given to us, her caring heart. God's plans were much greater and even though life took an angel home, we know that our family will always be protected.
Andrea was preceded by her parents, Wille and Charlotte Lamb, and stepfather Jerry (J.T) Deloatch.
