Bessie M. Houston

Bessie Mae Houston was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 24, 19456 to the late Mallie Corie Clark. On the day of April 25, 2024, God in His infinite wisdom, called our beloved Bessie from this life to dwell with him in His eternal garden. Her earthly assignment was completed. She is now rejoicing happily with the angels.

Bessie resided in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania all her life. She was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System and was a proud graduate of Cedar Brook High School. Bessie was employed in the nursing field for several years.

Bessie enjoyed shopping, going to the casino, playing her lottery, hanging out with family and friends, and telling people she will “slice and dice” you when you get on her bad side. A true family woman who always was giving. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Bessie had 4 sisters and 5 brothers to precede her in death, Mallie Green, Joyah Clark, Ella Clark, Catherine Clark, Alexander Clark, Rufus Clark, Arnold Clark, Jimmy Clark, Henry Clark, and Lawrence Clark,  Bessie out lived her brothers and siters until God called her home.

Bessie leaves to cherish her memory, 2 daughters and one son,  Sonora Houston, Bessie Houston, and Mark Houston: 9 grandchildren, Theresa Houston, Derrick Houston, Antonio Houston, Calvin Houston, Darren Lawrence, Terrance Houston, Terrell Houston and Tytianna Washington.  11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, Lakiesha Holliman, Cynthia Green, Darlene Green and nephews, Frankie Green, Steven Green, and Tate Green.  Bessie had one other great grandchild that entered the world one week before God caller her home.
