Celeste Depree Smallwood affectionately known as
Lessie, Cece, & Grandmom peacefully closed her eyes,
April 12, 2025, at York Hospital, surrounded by family.
She fought a courageous battle with Sickle Cell Anemia.
Celeste began her journey in York, PA, born to Troy
Smallwood Sr. and Elizabeth Christian Cummings.
Celeste adored her parents and had a special bond with
her bonus mother, Exia Smallwood. She was educated
in the Hartford Connecticut Public School System and
completed Job Corps. She loved her family and children
unconditionally. Celeste was very kindhearted and
giving.
Celeste is survived by her parents Troy Smallwood Sr.
and Elizabeth Christian Cummings, her stepmother Exia
Smallwood, three beautiful children: Josiah Jones,
Elijah Lugo, and Ziasia Lugo, thirteen sisters: Courtney,
Caprice (Davin), Christian (Jimmy), Charity, Tal’Lyah,
Tiara, Tylah, Taniyah, Jocelyn, Tiara, Leyshka, Yalitza,
& Ellen, seven brothers: Troy Jr. (Meghan), Trevon,
Isaiah (Pearla), Josiah, Joel, Tyrese (Naya), and
Tysean, Fourteen nieces & thirteen nephews, and one
great niece, and a Goddaughter, Ja ‘Ziyah . Celeste is
also survived by her paternal grandparents: Charles &
Karen Smallwood, maternal grandmother: Frances
Hoover, six aunts: Tracey Johnson (Danny), Deborah
Smallwood, Kelli Smallwood, Cassandra Christian,
Angela Hoover-Price (Steve), and Nicole Hoover, two
uncles: Charles Smallwood Jr., and Andrew Hoover III
(Ajeenah), and host of relatives & friends. She was
proceeded in death by her maternal grandfathers,
paternal and maternal great grandparents.
