Charlene Mercedes Wright

Charlene Mercedes Wright daughter of the late Earl Wright and Bernice Ghadi. Was born in Camden, NJ on June 6th 1952. She departed this life on July 1st 2023 in Philadelphia, PA. At home surrounded by her family and furbaby Penelope Pearl.

Charlene was educated in the Camden County school district. And received her high School diploma from Sterling High School.

Charlene was affectionately known as Miss Charlene or Momma Wright to friends in her neighborhood. She lived in North Philadelphia for over 30 years where she attended Neighborhood Baptist Church.

One of the many things Charlene enjoyed doing was cooking and baking. Making homemade meals for her family and friends. One of the most important lessons she always told her children growing up was to eat your vegetables. And to look out for each other, especially once she was gone. As time went on and children grew up and went out into the world. Charlene moved to Northeast Philadelphia to be closer to her family.

She attended the Allegheny Senior Center where she excelled in pottery, painting and jewelry design. She loved being creative and giving her creations to family and friends. She enjoyed crafting so much her items were on display in several art shows held at the senior center.

Everyone that knew her knew her love of fashion. She excelled at designing jewelry and made sure each outfit matched her designs. People would stop her on the street and in stores to compliment her on her jewelry. And you never saw her without a matching purse.

Family and friends meant everything to Charlene. And she was always ready to send a birthday card or thinking of you card. When she knew someone could use a little cheering up. She was the biggest cheerleader in her children’s and grandchild’s lives. Always at the ready with a listening ear or encouraging word. She was so happy when her son-in-law Edward and daughter-in-law Tahrita joined the family. And she was over the moon when her first grandchild Taylor was born.

Charlene leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Tanya Wright(Edward III) daughter Stacey Wright, son Timothy Wright( Tahrita), Granddaughter Taylor Peoples, sister Earlene Wright. Aunt Joan Wright, Nephew Shawn Wright(Heather),  God sons Kev Simpson and John Fudge. And a host of cousins and friends and extended family.
