Constance Plumer

Constance Plumer was born on July 31, 1957 to the late Richard Plumer and Mildred Campbell-Plumer. Family and friends lovingly knew Constance as Connie. Her grandchildren fondly called her Mom-Mom. Connie was taught within the Philadelphia public school system. Graduating from William Penn High School and later attending OIC Vocational Secondary School. Connie had a strong spiritual connection and frequented the church when she could. Connie was energetic and a hard worker beginning her career at Penn Emblem Company, Cheltenham Nursing Home, White Marsh Security, and she worked 28 years at Abington Memorial Hospital working various positions that include Dietary Aide, Medical Records Keeper, and before retirement, she worked as an Administrative Assistant in labor and delivery.

Connie was seen as a pinnacle of the community and was looked upon for guidance and help. She was beloved by her family and those who had the honor of being known as her friends. She was never one to ignore those who needed her help or those who were in need and did not know it. Many of her family would flock to her house like young birds migrating back to the nest. Her home was always one filled with laughs and joyous moments. Many generations of the Plumer family learned and grew under her watchful and kind eyes. From her children, her sisters’ children, and even their children looked to her as the matriarch and found solace within her aide. Even as the years went by these feelings never dwindled. From hosting birthday parties, block parties, or even simple family hangouts she always looked out for the comfort of others. However, even as her lungs grew weaker her heart never did. As she grew ill, she still found the comfort of others to be her strength. Especially from her great granddaughter named Azuri who knew her best as MaConnie. Unfortunately, Azuri had the misfortune of discovering Connie at her weakest and despite that, she went out of her way to help her Great-grandmother. Connie seeing how her one of her youngest grandchildren tried so hard for her knew she still had more fighting to do. Armed with the love and help of her granddaughter who guided the rest of the family Connie prepared for a long and hard battle. She fought and struggled despite what the doctors told her even when laying in the hospital bed. She was called a “tough cookie” because she continued to beat the odds. But while the spirit is willing and strong there were somethings the body could not overcome. As she lied in the hospital bed, she was preparing for the biggest battle of her life. The battle to say goodbye. As she listened to her family, come one after another to wish her safe travels on her next adventure they could feel her receiving them and they knew she was ready. Surrounded by those she loved on July 20, 2024 she allowed the ancestors to take her home and to get started on her next great feat. However, this was not goodbye because it was merely I will wait for you so we can be all be together again. Connie leaves to cherish her memories: Her children’s fathers Michael and William; her children Yolanda, Michelle and Marquis; 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 sisters Darlene, Tina, and Tanya; 1 brother Richard; 5 nieces; 5 nephews;1 great niece; 1 great nephew; and a host of family and friends.
