Danna Spruill Obituary

Danna Marie Spruill was born November 27th, 1985, to the late Milton E. Spruill and Jane E Dantzler (Wood). She peacefully transitioned in her sleep on March 1st, 2023, after a long courageous battle with metastatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones who will strive to honor her memory as life progressed past the pain.

All who knew Danna knew she harbored a fiery persona and was passionate about motherhood. She loved her children to death. The simplest pleasures in life, such as motherhood, cooking, and being around family, is what Danna enjoyed the most. She was a trailblazer. Danna knew where all the resources were and sharing them with her loved ones was her way of pouring love into the family. She will be deeply missed, and although the family knew she would slip into the afterlife one day, no one was truly prepared to lose her. Her smile, her laughter, and her spunkiness made fade away with time, but her memory will live on in all of us forever. As we sit here and honor her life, remember that she is no longer suffering and that alone should surround your hearts with peace.

Danna is preceded in death by her father, Milton Spruill; her sister Yolanda Spruill; her brother Bryheem Spruill; her grandmothers, Mary Spruill and Elizabeth Dantzler; and spiritual grandmother, Bishop Helen B. Parker; her grandfathers, Augustine Spruill, Joseph Tate, and spiritual grandfather Deacon John Parker, two aunts Brenda and Evelyn Dantzler, four uncles Duke and Michael Dantzler, Ralp and Jeremiah Spruill.

Danna is survived by her three children Samiyah, Jamir, and Cincere, Her mother and step-father: Jane Wood and Louis Smith, her two sisters Loreal Chalmers and Danielle Baxter (her fraternal double); her Brother in law Jordan Baxter; fiancé Koji Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. Last does not mean last, Special Thanks to Wy-keina Dantzler and Rhonda Dantzler (Danna’s cousins) for being caretakers for her. The things that you two had to see, feel, and live are indescribable. You two were her hero’s and we, her sisters and mother honor you two for loving on her in that capacity. Saying thank you is not enough, and we know that, but we love extremely on the both of you.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
