Darlene Laura-Darsella Price

LIFE STORY

Darlene Laura Darsella Price was born to Ethel Marie Goode and Thurkey Ali Bey on Saturday, November 1, 1958. Darlene was born in Philadelphia, PA, attending the Philadelphia Public school system. Darlene earned her GED and furthered her education by going back to school attending Community College of Philadelphia getting her Associate’s Degree. She also received several different certifications. Darlene loved to read and learn new things. She took such pride in her work and loved working with the Philadelphia Police Department, Personnel Unit. She worked for PPD for nearly seven years, before retiring. Before working at the Police Department, she worked many years at Friends Hospital; she loved the patients and treated them as if they were her family.

Darlene’s biggest love was for her family; she loved attending gatherings with her family laughing and dancing. What she loved most was her three children, Michelle, Robbie (Robert), Derrick and her prized possessions, her grandsons. There was nothing Darlene would not do for her kids and family. Often the first thing you would hear approaching a family event is Darlene’s laughter, where you would be welcomed with a bright beautiful smile and warm hug. People always knew it was a great time when Darlene was around, but you could not leave without hearing her speak so highly about her children and grandsons. Darlene was very caring; she would give the shirt off her back if you needed it. It brought delight to Darlene to give gifts and see your response as you opened it.

Darlene’s favorite things to do were listening to music and dancing. She could out dance anyone and took pride in that. Darlene knew every word to any song; everyone knew to call her to get titles of songs when we could not figure it out. She enjoyed helping and inspiring people; she did this daily.

LEGACY

Darlene leaves in mourning her children Michelle Price, (preceded in death) Robert Cleveland Jr. and Derrick Cleveland, her grandson’s Nasir and Jaden Randall, Logan and Lance Cleveland. (Bonus grandson’s Shane Jr and Zahir Randall) Brothers (preceded in death) Tyrone Goode, Vincent (Jocko) Price, Alex Smith, and Michael (Marty) Martin. Sisters (preceded in death) Sherry Martin, Cynthia Bumpers and (sister-in-law) Loretta (Faye) Price and Zepherina Goode. Nieces Tara Green, Alesha Moore, Iesha Burroughs, Shania Boskie and Tyrenia Goode. Nephews Tyrone Smith, Vincent Moore, (Preceded in death) Tyrecee Bumpers, Fasaad Boskie and Shai Price. And host of great- nieces, great- nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
