David Hoyle Obituary

David Heart Hoyle was born on December 21, 1953 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the sixth of fourteen children born to the late Vester Sr. and Eugenia Hoyle. He was raised in a Christian family and was a faithful member at Nazereth Baptist Church, where his parents proudly served as a deacon and deaconess and he met his wife Brenda Colclough, whom he adored.

David was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System starting at Harrison Elementary School. During his teenage years David worked at Herb's Atlantic Gas Station, followed by various Florsheim Shoes stores as a Window Trimmer throughout the Philadelphia and New Jersey area's, and finally at Smith-Edwards-Dunlap in the maintenance department. He loved attending church and in later years began worshiping at Friendly Baptist Church where he welcomed all of his family and friends to attend.

David greeted everyone with happiness, respect, and enthusiasm. He was affectionately called "The Mayor" of the Richard Allen Projects due to his generous and caring ways. It has recently been said "When he ate, we all ate" recognizing that David would give his last to help everyone! He was also known and appreciated for his endless connections. Whether you needed a new house or a roof, a car, jewelry, teeth, clothes, eyeglasses, a funeral home, a lawyer, driving lessons, a job at the waterfront, or something as simple a chicken, he knew who had it, and if he couldn't get it he knew someone who could! His sayings were endless, many of which were sarcastic but would always give a laugh. "Ain't that a blip", "if you wear ya hat backwards, you think backwards" "you ease ya head out the lions mouth, you don't snatch it out!" When in doubt, dont", "I don't wear sneakers! A grown man don't have no business sneaking around", and you can't forget his favorite, "dumb as a doughnut!" These are just a few of his favorites. Those who knew him well would hear him coming before they would see him. His distinctive "WHISTLE" will stay with us forever and continue to live on.

David loved to dress in tailor made suit's and often visited Boyd's in downtown Philadelphia. He loved to "show up and show out" wearing expensive shoes, hats, jewelry, initialed shirts, and his "DH" pinky ring. David loved to dance and would command attention on the dance floor especially with his famous "handkerchief illusion". The louder people called out his name the harder he danced. He would dance from the time he arrived at an event until the last song played. David also enjoyed riding horses, motorcycles, fast cars, and getting parking tickets.

In November of 2019 David was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. Remaining faithful to God, he decided to manage his tumor and continue to LIVE life! He accepted God's plan and although his mobility changed, his love and concern for family and friends did not. During the last three and a half years of his life, David spent most of his time with his loving and caring wife, chidren, and grandchildren. This time will be cherished by them forever. It is often said "he is no longer in pain" and "he is no longer suffering" however, David never experienced any pain, nor did he suffer. It is believed that his undoubted faith in God was rewarded with a pain free transition to be with the Lord. On March 16th, 2023, with his wife, sister in law, niece, and aide by his side David left this earth to dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

David was preceded in death by his loving parents, Vester Sr. and Eugenia Hoyle, his brothers Alan Hoyle, Vester Hoyle Jr, Vincent Hoyle, and Orlando Hoyle, his sister, Eleanor Hoyle, and sister-in-law Dorinda Hoyle.

David leaves to cherish his life and legacy, his wife, Brenda Colclough, his children, one son, David Hoyle (Keesha); 3 daughters, Anjail Mason-Scott (Chris), Denene Butler-Hoyle, and Dimonique Hoyle-Robinson (Stash). Six grandsons, David, Jaron, Isaiah, Devon, Dwaan, and Elijah, and 1 granddaughter to come "Baby Robinson". Two brothers, John and James Hoyle; Five sisters Angeline Seaton, Bessie, Darlene, Joan, and Sherrilyn Hoyle; Two sisters-in-law, Joyce and Tessa and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he knew throughout his lifetime.
