Deaconess Janie McCray Obituary

Janie Mae McCray was born the first of three children to the late Abraham and Almena Blanding on December 19, 1936 in Dillion, South Carolina. On December 27, 2024 Janie slept peacefully away into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol, Pennsylvania.

Janie Mae attended Bingham high school in Dillion, South Carolina.

On February 20, 1954, Janie Mae married the late deacon Charles McCray in Dillion South Carolina. And from that union six children were born Olla Perry, Lee Ruth, Patricia Ann, Cynthia, Charles Jr and David McCray.

Janie Mae and her entire family relocated from Dillion, South Carolina to Trenton, New Jersey where she was a member at the Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend E. A. Davis. She then relocated to Bristol Pennsylvania and joined Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Fells. Which is now under the leadership of Reverend Darryl Jones.

While being a member at Second Baptist Church Janie was appointed as a Deaconess and a mother of the church. She also sang on the choir. Some of her favorite songs to sing are: “If I’m too high Lord, please bring me down “Like a Ship without a sail” and “ Without God”. Deaconess Janie McCray loves her Second Baptist Church family.

Deaconess Janie McCray worked in the medical field as a certified nursing assistant, she worked at various facilities in the area. After she retired from nursing, she worked at Amaco corporation. And then later on worked at a food pantry in Bristol PA.

Deaconess McCray was proceeded in death by her (parents) Abraham and Almena Blanding , (Husband )Charles McCray Sr, children: (son) David McCray, (daughter) Patricia Thomas ( daughter) Lee Ruth Jackson, (daughter) Cynthia Smith, siblings: (brother) James Hubbard Rawls (sister) Mamie Howard ( grandson) Anthony Smith.

Deaconess Janie McCray leaves to cherish her precious fun and loving memories with (daughter) Olla Perry( son) Charles McCray Junior, ( brother) James Page Grandchildren: Xavier, Jason, Tania, Melissa, Jermaine & Margarita , Josephine & John , Charles III, Brandon & Laraine, Tiffany & Justin Kenyatta & Marissa. 23 great grandchildren, a host of great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
