Demetrious Lawrence Harrell

Demetrious Lawrence Harrell was born February 22, 1961, To Marquetta Harrell and Hersey Harrell in Ahoskie, North Carolina. He departed this life on February 24, 2024, in Abington, PA.

Demetrious was educated in the Philadelphia School District, graduating from Frankford High School in 1979. To perfect his offset printing trade, he then attended the Philadelphia Printing School. Demetrious later attended San Diego Mesa College where he studied Culinary Arts.

Demetrious served in the United States Navy from 1980 to 1990 where he received the Navy Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Ribbon, and Honorable Discharge. During that time, he practiced his printing and culinary skills on the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63). Demetrious also held various jobs and duties throughout his years, which included, Firewatch in the Newport News, VA Shipyard. After his Navy career, Demetrious found himself in the culinary field again working as a baker.

Demetrious aka (Meaty) had a love for sports – which stemmed from his high school basketball career. There he was coached by Vince Miller who was high school teammates with the famous (Philly) Wilt Chamberlin. He also found fun and comfort in cooking, which he picked up from his mom Marquetta as a young kid. Demetrious was known for being a kindhearted and dependable person! Everyone loved being around Meaty, he was always in good spirits and had a pleasant disposition.

Demetrious leaves to cherish his memory his son Demetrious Lawrence Harrell Jr, daughter Brittney Harrell, grandchildren: Jordan, Jaidyn, Enzo, and Maleah. Sister Janet, brother Keith (Carol), sister Alicia, brother Glenn (Wynette), along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
