Diane Bridges Obituary

On December 12, 1958, “Diane Rethea Bridges,” aged 64, was born to the lovely and late Pearl Jeannette Johnson and David Lewis. Diane grew up in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, PA, and attended Germantown High School. By nature, Diane was a caregiver to others. Her life’s work entailed serving as a private nurse, working as a security guard, a block captain, and serving as a Police Chaplain. While in her younger years, Diane knew and could perfectly execute all the latest dance moves and usually the last one on the dance floor, she accepted Jesus as her savior in 1979 at God’s Holy Temple Church, and committed her life to Christ, eventually becoming ordained as Pastor Bridges. The song, “Running for Jesus" became literal, and spiritually, the latest dance moves became a good old shout and “run” down the center of the church. The “last to leave the dance floor” became a good tarry and “shut in” service. Rather directing the church choir, beating a tamborine, playing the drums, or preaching the word of God, Diane was a faithful servant to Christ. In 1980, Diane Lewis married Jessie Bridges, and they had five beautiful children. Two of Diane’s children preceded her new life with Christ. Jeremiah Bridges, a newborn, and Jessie Bridges, “Jr. age 40.” In the physical, she leaves her daughters, the eldest, Niema, middle child, Diane, Jr. (Marie), and the youngest, Michelle. Diane’s life is celebrated by her siblings: Cynthia, Daveena, Ethel, Phyllis, David, Frederick, and Walter. Diane’s life is also celebrated by a slew of grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Diane loved Christ, her children, family and friends, and her dearest and faithful husband, Jessie Bridges, SR. As Diane Reathea Bridges would sing, “Ride on King Jesus!!!!! In that Great Gettin Up Morning, Very Well, Very Well!” It is WELL!!
