Ethel Lee Faulks was born June 7, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Willie and Ethel Faulks. Ethel was the baby of the family. Her siblings Margie, Dorothy and Michael all preceded her in death.
Ethel was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. At a young age, Ethel accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Ethel was blessed with three children whom she adored: two sons Rayvon W. Faulks and Kevin Faulks, and her daughter, Martica Faulks. Ethel and her children attended Zion Baptist Church as her kids were growing up. She also attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with her family. She found her church family at Truth Baptist in 2008 and remained a member until God called her home. At Truth, Ethel diligently served on the Food Ministry and as a communion steward.
Growing up Ethel enjoyed spending time with her cousin Delores. Ethel would often travel to New York to spend time with family. They loved to dance and take in the sites together.
Ethel was a hard-working woman her entire life. She dedicated her life to working to provide for her children. She worked as a seamstress at several factories in the Philadelphia area, including Stetson and Botony 500.
Ethel loved her block, the 4200 Block of Sydenham Street. She resided on the block for 34 years. She served on the Block Committee – assisting with anything that contributed to the upkeep of the block.
In later years, Ethel loved to spend time with her sweetheart George Fields, whom she affectionately called Georgie Porgie. They loved watching tv – especially game shows, Blue Blood and NCIS. She also loved spending time with family and traveling to Atlantic City. Ethel loved to cook. She loved to make macaroni and cheese, turkey wings and many other dishes. But her specialty was banana pudding. She made it from scratch and everybody loved it!
Ethel leaves to cherish her memory, her children Rayvon Faulks (Regina) Kevin Faulks, and Martica Faulks; Grandchildren Natalie, Steffanie, LaToya, Regina, Bryant, Lisa, Natasha, Kevin, Jr., Nasha, Myche’ale, Nigel, Malik and Isaiah, 18 great-grandchildren and her longtime companion, George Fields, and a host of family and friends.
