Joseph Lee Holder Bey affectionately known as Joey was born October 5,1953 in Philadelphia pa to the late Nancy Bey and Robert Bey Sr.
Joseph received his education in Philadelphia public school system he graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School where he received his high school diploma and then he went on to work for the city of Philadelphia sanitation department for 20 years before retiring.
Joey enjoyed watching television especially on Sundays to watch his favorite team play the Dallas Cowboys. Joey loved being around his family and friends but one thing he loved best was being around his grandchildren they always made his day especially the youngest grandson that said pop-pop all day long until he went to sleep. Joey also had a thing for music cause he was one of the best DJ’s around which they him gave him the name DISCO JOE.
Joey always spent everyday with his wife Karen when you seen him you always seen her.
Joey was proceeded in death by his parents Nancy Bey and Robert Bey Sr. Two sisters Grace Bey and Maryann Bey one granddaughter Baby Milan Bey two aunts Carrie Hamilton “EL and Bernice Bey four uncles Lacey Bethune Bey James A. Bethune Bey Ernest Bethune Bey Charles Bethune Bey Two cousin Janice Bethune and Eleanor Thomas Two Brother in laws Kenneth Leake and Ronald Leake and One sister in law Linda Leake.
Joey leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife Karen Leake Bey Two sons Joseph Bey Jr and Kacim Bey Two daughters Felicia Bey and Jaquetta Bey Two Brothers Robert Bey and David Bey Two aunts Essie Bey and Constant Johnson One uncle Jessie Bey Five grandchildren Yah’mir Bey Yahseem Bey Inyae Allen Raymond Grimes and Baby Bryson who has not enter the world yet but will never get to meet his pop-pop. Four Godchildren Kareem Palmer Ethan Davis Kadeidra Leake and Nicole Salter Five close cousins Barbara,Denise, Phyllis,Karen and Tracy One favorite niece Angela Bey and four special nephews Billy Palmer,Robert Bey Jr, Malik Bey and Alex Bey three sister-in-laws and three brother-in-laws.
Joey also had some very special friends that touched his heart from south Philly and north Philly just to name a few
Ellis,Bow,Brother,Gatty,Butch,Carter,Sam
Eddie Tap,Skiboe,Jeffery,Truck,Little Bob and Warren Upchurch and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,cousins and friends.
