Juanita Brothers Obituary

Juanita Allura Brothers (affectionately know as Nita) was born on January 8, 1955 to the late Geraldine Upchurch and Harold Davis. Nita departed this life on May 20, 2025 after a brief illness.

 

Nita was educated in the Philadelphia Public school System. While in school she excelled at typing and word processing which she used throughout her life in the work field. While in early high school Nita was blessed with her one and only child Maurice Upchurch. Nita graduated from West Philadelphia high school in 1972, after completion of her studies Nita went on to have an established career as an administrative assistant with jobs at the US Treasury Department, Fox Chase Cancer Center. While at Fox Chase she met and fell in love with her future husband Anthony Brothers, Nita left Fox Chase and started a new job at Sun Chemical company where she worked until retirement.

 

Nita and Tony married in July 1990, and after their marriage they tried their hands at entrepreneurship opening up various Business Ventures which included a soul food restaurant, dry cleaning business, DayCare and best of all was the legacy Janitorial Company a certified “GREEN“ company. Even though Nita was retired she decided to worked part time for caring and action nursing agency up until her passing. 

Nita devoted her life to the lord in 1989 she was a faithful  servant of the lord and she was ordained a pastor in March 2004. Tony and Nita started their own Ministry in 2009 where she was affectionately known as mother. Although she was no longer active as a serving pastor she remained steadfast in serving the lord. 

 

Although Nita only had one biological child she was Mother to many helping to raise:(Lawrence, Reese, La’Teash , Lil Tony, Dave, Dayja,Zyoum,Zaymar, and Zyrus) she was influential in the spiritual mentoring of the lives of their many church members(Kia,Kaileeb, and Bam) just to name a few.

Throughout her life Nita held many passions which were traveling, baking, and caring for others, but her true commitment which came later in life was her line dancing crew (Delaware’s finest line dancing crew) where they would go around and preform.

 

Nita was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Preceding her in death is her Husband Tony, Mother Geraldine and Father Harold, Brothers Shawn and Brian and Her Niece Shaneen(Bree).She leaves to carry on and cherish her memory Son Maurice(Reese) (Denise) ,Sisters Lovie(Allen), Sherry(Montrell), Tay. Grandchildren Devante and Shaneen, Great grandchildren Ava and A’nora along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
