Lamar L. Johnson "Mar Mar"

It is with deep sorrow and sadness to announce the unexpected passing of Lamar Leon Johnson. He was born at Temple University Hospital and raised in Philadelphia Pa to a loving care family. His mother Glendora Sligh raised him as a hard-working single mother and his father Leon (Sarah) Johnson.  He was born into a wonderful caring family who had to learn how to care for Lamar in a special way as he was born with a congenital condition that would not allow him to care for himself. His family and nurses cared, nurtured and assisted Glendora along the way. Even when she didn't have nurses or anyone to assist her in his specialized, complicated and often times overwhelming care; she ALWAYS took in this task and did what she had to do as his mother and caregiver. Lamar Johnson had the best of everything in his life as he was educated at a private school in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, BANCROFT HIGH SCHOOL. He graduated and enjoyed the life of a high school student and was the life of the classroom and entire school. His personality was just as big as his heart. He had a no-nonsense temperament and even though he couldn't communicate in the traditional way most people are used to, you knew how he felt about you or anything you were doing because he'd muster up his super human strength to hit you or holler at you in a way only Lamar could do! He was head strong and consistent in telling you in other ways what he wanted, which most of the time it was FOOD! He loved listening to music.

And we were his supporting cast. If you were new to the crew Dora made you know IMMEDIATELY it's all about Lamar! He'll always be our superstar. Despite his congenital condition, he has always beat the odds. We thank God! We thank God for allowing us to be apart of his very special life, we thank God because according to the medical experts; Lamar wasn’t expected to live past infancy...BUT GOD! Today we celebrate him, his life and his lasting impression he's had on all of us and for this we say Thank you Lamar for being our shining star. 

He was celebrated every day and, in every way, while he was here with us. If his live was a movie he was definitely  the star. And we were his supporting cast. If you were new to the crew Dora made you know IMMEDIATELY it's all about Lamar!  He was preceded in death by his brother Shareef and great grandmother. He is survived in life by his loving mother Glendora Sligh and his Father Leon Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Azalee and Otto and his caring sassy sister Charisma and his nieces and nephews; Zahair, Zymir and Zykera; his great nieces; Milesis and Mulani. His aunt Barbara, uncle Larry( Joyce) Sligh.
