“Lou” you are gone but will not be forgotten. Thank you for all the special memories you have left behind memories that we will cherish in our hearts forever. To many, Lewis Baskill Bagley, was known as “Lou,” or “Big Lou” to some. Lewis was born July 2, 1945, in Giatto, West Virginia to the late Lewis and Arlene Bagley.
“Lou” attended public schools in Mercer and Releigh County, West Virginia. In 1963 he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. During this time, he earned badges in Sharpshooting and Marksmanship and received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (AFEM) as well as a Good Conduct Medal. After completing his tour, he moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, there he began working in the bakery and confectionery industry at Michaels Bakery until he retired.
“Lou” would have his morning coffee while sitting on the porch, people watching. During his retirement he decided becoming the block captain would keep him busy along with his daily walks to play his lottery. His favorite time of the year was football season. Of course, you know his team was The Philadelphia EAGLES, and he’d dear you to talk bad about them. He loved taking road trips with family and friends. He especially loved the trips back to his hometown in West Virginia with his favorite cousin Peggy Robinson and his time spent with is soul brother (as Lou would say) Keith Harris. Lou’s greatest joy was his daughter and grandchildren.
“Lou” leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy, his only daughter Arlean Bagley, two grand children Ameena Jones-Bagley and Kasim Edwards all of Philadelphia PA; His, sister Connie (Benny) Belton of Philadelphia Pa.; His brother, Sylvester Bagley of Beckley West Virginia; His loving companion Delores Harris and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Lou was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, (his twin) Willie Bagley and Leonard Bagley; 3 sisters Jacqueline Jones, Sylvia Collins and Beverly Ross
