Was born June 26, 1944, to the late Lillian and Willie Davis in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mary received her formal education in the Philadelphia Public School system, graduating from Simon Gratz Senior High School.
She was married to the late Fred Sessoms.
She worked as a certified nursing assistant until she retired. After that, she joined the grandparents’ program to help the youth until her health began to fail.
Mary loved singing gospel songs, sports, dancing, and family gatherings. Mary gave her life to Christ in 1999. In 2004, after the death of her pastor, Pastor Mason, Mary began to look for another church not so far away. In October 2005, she met her current Pastor through Mother Loretta Shaw who was a neighbor. In November 2005, Miracle Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C was birthed, and Mary was one of the first members to join the church which later became True Miracle Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. Mary sang on the choir, was an usher and a faithful and dedicated member. She loved her pastor and church family until her death.
She is preceded in death by her son, Lawrence T. Drayton; one sister and three brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Hadessah S. Drayton; her son, Chad Drayton Sr.; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren, friends, and church family.
