Michael Nicholson Obituary

Michael Nicholson was born April 20, 1967 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Greece Nicholson and the late William Speaks senior Michael whom we called bear or the great bear or Mr. 40 was educated in the Philadelphia public school system Michael worked at various jobs growing up but landed a job downtown at a recruitment center where he thrived Michael was always cool and laid-back very quiet at times, but yet always very observant

Every Saturday morning, Michael, and or his siblings would get up and go to prayer counseling with his cousin Mary whom he loved unconditionally.

Michael excepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at a early age if you would have come in contact with Michael, this would be the greeting “what’s up what’s ,going down”

He was nicknamed Mr. 40 by his brothers and friends as well because downing a 40 was something he loved to do with no apologies

His brothers and friends would gather with a nice cold 40 and rap about the neighborhood, but most of all cracking jokes about everything and everybody

Michael didn’t hold any punches

He had you bent over, cracking up, just by the names and labels he would put on people or the crazy things we used to do back in the day either at the playground or at Broad and Olney

One of Michael’s other nickname was chef BeeAir he didn’t play any games on the grill or in the kitchen he often cook for his nephew and nieces at the drop of a dime What day would scavenge for leftovers from something he already made along with his brothers

Michael was a very caring and loving man. He loved his family and friends and cared about everyone’s well-being but most of all he loved kids and kids loved him even when nieces and nephews became uncontrollable, bear was right there with something to eat a piece of candy or take them for a walk and every tear with ceas Michael’s mother became ill where she needed care 24 hours a day seven days a week and she needed assistance. Michael chimed right in to help his mother. He loved her and he knew that she needed his help. It wasn’t too long afterwards as Michael was still caring for his mother. He himself was not feeling his best, Michael did not think too much of it as his mothers Well-being was important to him not too long after Michael’s became extremely ill. His health was overwhelming him.

And of course, he was quiet about it still laid back, still chilling, as he always did still doing all that he could do

But early that Sunday morning, May 5, 2024 in the midst of his silence and any pain that he may have endured we believe that the Lord stretched out his hand and took him home while he slept

Entering the kingdom of glory with the great I am where his loved ones were all waiting to greet him. We will certainly miss Michael and We loved him Jesus Christ loved him more and his memories to cherish is his mother, Greece, three sisters, Terry, Denise and Sheryl four brothers William Junior, Mark, Kevin and Joey

His aunt Jesse Uncle Toby, brother-in-law, Tony, sister-in-law, Sue, and the host of nieces, nephews and cousins and friends
