She was the fourth born child of seven children; Nathaniel Brown, Tereta Pannell, David Brown Jr.(deceased), Darryl Brown, Anthony Brown, and Shawnette Brown.
As a child Darlene was known as a quiet, reserved and a very independent child. She loved being by her self in her room, and would pride herself as having the cleanest room of all her siblings. One of her favorite quotes were: “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.”
At a very early age, Darlene accepted the Lord as her personal Savior under the Ministry of Pastor Gertrude Long, Pastor of Miracle Temple, where her and her family were members for many years.
It was there at Miracle Temple, that Darlene developed a dedicated prayer life, she was known for shutting herself in her room and praying and fasting for days.
Darlene was educated within the Philadelphia School System at Frederick Douglass High School.
As Darlene would grow naturally, she would also increase Spiritually in the knowledge of the Lord, she had an hunger and thirst after the things of God.
At the tender age of 14 years old, Darlene would meet the man would would become the love of her life. Albert Young, three years later they would be married, on November 4,1984 by their current Pastor, Bishop Clarence Backus, Senior Pastor of Nation of God Church (UBBC).
Their union would be blessed by three beautiful and talented children; Arlene S. Jackson, Tereta C. Young and Albert A. Young Jr., and was blessed to have six grandchildren.

Many souls were saved and converted and many churches would be birth out of that ministry. In 2006 Darlene was installed as Pastor of Total Deliverance Ministries and her husband was affirmed a Apostle of the Lord.
She continued to served faithfully as a Pastor, under the Auspice of her Apostle, and Husband.
In 2016 Pastor Darlene and her husband were installed as Apostle and Pastor of New Redeem Apostolic Church, after the death of the founder, Dr. Lynwood Reily, where she served faithfully until the Lord would call her home.
Pastor Young was known as a fashionista, and knew how to gracefully wear her high heels. Her fashion prowess, would prompt many people to request her to decorate their houses and even churches.
She took pride in decorating every room in New Redeem Church. Looking around the church you would see her hand, everywhere. This thoughtful and caring woman was renown for taking on other people issues and problems, she truly did the work of a Pastor: she feed the hungry, even when she took all the groceries out of her own house. Clothe the naked, always shopping for everybody she knew, and often for those she just meant.
Pastor Young was a very Anointed and Powerful Prayer Warrior and Preacher. Whenever she preached, the altar would be full of people repenting and trying to get right with God.
Her favorite quote was, “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.”
We could go on and on, there would not be enough pages to contain how meaningful and instrumental she was in the life of her family and all those who knew her.
