Rosalyn Ilona Redmond, affectionately known as Roz, was born April 14, 1952 to the late Viola Redmond and the late William Cook in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She departed this life very quietly and peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2021.
Roz became a mother to Omar Josef Redmond in 1969 but sadly lost him to pneumonia in 1972. She was joined in holy matrimony to Albert Cofer Junior on October 23, 1971 and was blessed with the birth of her “miracle”, Natasha. Albert was also father-in-love to Roz’s son, Omar.
Roz attended Baptist church throughout her life before finally settling in at First Baptist Church of Crestmont where she discovered what it truly means to love the Lord.
Roz was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 35 years. Over the course of her career she worked in the Department of Public Welfare – Claim Settlement, the Office of Children, Youth and Family, Philadelphia State Court Unit, Youth Development Center – Bensalem (Cornwells, Heights) and finally retiring from the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole. During her employment she received many awards and accolades and developed many special relationships, Kelvin Healey, Michelle Rivera and Tom Shephard to name a few.
To have a little fun, Roz joined Club L’git, a ladies social organization in the 1990’s. She attributed many fond memories which involved lots of dancing, lots of laughing and lots of love.
Roz was preceded in death by her brother William Joseph Redmond and her son Omar Josef Redmond.
Roz leaves to cherish fond memories her daughter Natasha Cofer; grandson Marquis Cofer; daughter-in love Tanisha (Angel) Carelock; son-in-love Jeffery Neal; grandson-in love Jeffery Neal Junior; special friends Deborah Ricks, Larry Bonner, Laura Walls (her God-sister) and Adrienne Jones; and the beloved family dog, Hendrix. Roz also leaves behind a host of cousins and friends the she loved very much.
