Sharyn Anita Mintz was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 6, 1962, to the late James Mintz Sr. and Ruby Mae Ridley-Thomas. On the evening of October 14, 2023, God, in his infinite wisdom, called our beloved Sharyn from this life to dwell with Him in His eternal garden. Her earthly assignment was completed. She is now rejoicing happily with the angels.
Sharyn was a Godly woman, and she loved the word of God; she recited his word daily and would pray for all who came in her path. She had God in her heart and wasn’t afraid to tell you.
Sharyn resided in Washington D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland, at an early age. She was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system and was a proud graduate of Bok High School. Sharyn was employed as a receptionist at The Philadelphia Inquirer Building and later as a CNA at Homestead Nursing Home.
Sharyn later attended Community College receiving an Associate Degree with a focus in Hospitality. She also briefly attended Temple University. After retiring due to her disability, Sharyn became a foster parent for many years. Sharyn enjoyed shopping, going to the casino, playing her lottery, hanging out with family, and giving you the business. A true family woman who loved the kids just as much as she loved her God. Her greatest joy was taking care of her sons, grandchildren, David and dressing flashy, while being sassy.
Sharyn had two brothers to precede her in death, David Ridley and Kevin Thomas.
Sharyn leaves to cherish her memories: her life-long companion and special love, David Taylor; three sons, Saleem, Khalief, and Niazeem; two grandchildren, Ki’mani and Ja’khi Dozier; three brothers, Clayton Thomas, James and Derek Mintz; two sisters, Dijuana Mintz and Kialenaha Stewart; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Thomas and Yvette Thomas; one special sister and Bestie, Vina Davis-Hamiter; two stepsisters, Kim Lynch-Jenkins and Faustina Lynch; one stepbrother, Frederick Lynch; six nieces; Elaine, Lorna, Tawanna, Quanda, Kenyatta, and Shawn; eight nephews, Mustafa, Shaurn, Omar, Tyrin, David, Anthony, Steven, and Kevin Jr.; three step-nieces, Fatima , Caprea, and Tyshay; thirteen great-nephews (her Cay Cay); fourteen great nieces; one great-great niece; three great-great nephews, and one beautiful Goddaughter, Nyarah Williams, and a host of other relatives and friends.
