Sherry Marie Goode was born to Ethel Marie Goode and Roger Price on April 26, 1955.
It is with great sadness that the family of Sherry Marie Goode-Martin announced her passing on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the age of 66.
Sherry will be lovingly missed by her husband of 42 years, Mr. Michael Martin, whom she met while celebrating her birthday with her sister Darlene Price in Center City, Philadelphia. Marty noticed Sherry right away and he said to Darlene, “I sure would like to meet your girlfriend,” Darlene told him, “that’s my sister and today is her Birthday!" When Sherry walked up, their eyes met, and it was like the beginning of a Love Connection that lasted her lifetime. On May 6, 1995 the two of them decided to commit to a lifetime of marital bliss. Sherry and Marty spent approximately 16 years of unconditional love together and they honored every one of their vows until death, did they part.
Of her many accomplishments Sherry was most proud of her Sobriety of over 27 years. She was also proud of her many years of work with the School of Philadelphia, managing at CBC Cleaning Services, and then at the Radnor Hotel until her retirement. Sherry and Marty worked hard to achieve some of the best things in life; purchasing their home, cars, and enjoying a fulfilled lifestyle until life threatening illnesses began for Sherry. Through it all Sherry’s main philosophies were, “it’s in God’s hands and that’s where I’m going to leave it at" and “God’s got me and I'm okay.” Sherry didn't want the Family crying, worrying, or fusing over her, and according to her, she was fine and definitely blessed by our Lord and Savior.
Throughout all of Sherry’s illnesses, she remained our Overseer and our Queen, with Marty right by her side. Sherry supported her sisters through the loss of their sons. It was her words of wisdom and love that gave Cindy and Darlene the strength to go on after the loss of their beloved Mother and brother. Only God knows what would’ve became of them without the love of God and Sherry’s support. Sherry was an Amazing wife, sister, and auntie. God truly gave us the best!
During all of Sherry’s illnesses and surgeries, God made arrangements for Marty to retire, and he tended to her like no other. He took excellent care of her as if he were her doctor. He managed all of her medication, (knowing what each and every one, was for) and managed her daily care. Marty got so good at caring for Sherry that most times he was able to tell the Drs exactly what she needed and which organs to focus on, resulting in her feeling much better. Marty was truly a Godsend to Sherry as she was to him, and he made sure to express his love for her daily as she did so in return
