Spenmecia Natrona Merceir

Spenmecia Natrona Merceir, affectionately known as Trona, Mom, Grandmom, Boodie, and Girl, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 9, 2024, in Philadelphia.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Born on June 15, 1957 to three loving parents, Ida and Spencer St. George and Spencer Hunt. Trona was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia. She attended school at Olney High and Cheyney University where she focused on child psychology. 

While in high school, she participated in drama, interpretive dance, art, and beauty pageants, winning Miss Teen Philadelphia.

Following college, Trona gave birth to two sons, Nairann and Markiese. She then married Robert Flood. As a loving mother, Trona worked hard to provide for family at various jobs ranging from waitressing to home health aide and clerical work.  Her true passion was family, hosting fish fries, game nights, and holiday dinners.  She had a love of music and dancing and could always get a party going. Admirably, Trona was an activist in her community, serving over 20 years as a committee person and a poll judge.  Her door was always open to anyone who needed anything. She especially loved the kids. To Trona, a full house was a happy house. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Theresa, brother, Lamont, brother, Greg, sister, Spencina & sister, Latisha. She is survived by husband Robert siblings Sylvia Ann, Vanessa, Benedetta, Percy (Buddy), Delzora, Spencer(Nick), Keith, Kenneth Sr., LaWanda, and Gerald, Karin, Andria(Monk),Tanya(Tangie). Trona will continue to watch over her two sons, daughter in law’s Shalona & Bethany, grandchildren Dasani, Chance, Denim, and Dakota, her nieces and nephews, Toby, Remell, Terry, Eilena, Demetrius, Jenedetta, Shante, Kenneth Jr., Ryan, Chloe, and Brianna, and her great nieces and nephews including Momid, Khalil, Myteesha, Nalani, Saniyah, Isabella, Morgan, Liam, Seth, and Sage.
