Wanda Lee Gause-Lawson

On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, the sunset on Wanda Lee Gause-Lawson, God called her home.

Wanda Lee was born on May 2, 1944 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Wanda grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Wanda attended Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia, where she graduated in 1963. Following her goals of becoming a nurse, she attended nursing school in Harrisburg, PA, where she received her LPN certification. After receiving certification, Wanda worked as a nurse at Temple University Hospital, where she retired in 2003 after 35 years of service.

During Wanda’s childhood, she attended church on a regular basis. She continued this practice throughout her life and became a devoted member of Mount Airy Church of God in Christ, where she also dedicated her time to the homebound ministry.

Wanda enjoyed cooking, preparing and sharing many of her specialty meals with family and friends during the holidays and special occasions, which many know her for.

Wanda also had an entrepreneurial spirit; she owned a small convenience store in the North Philadelphia area. She valued education, family and friends; her love for family and friends was shown throughout the years.

Wanda leaves to mourn her husband, Sylvester; daughter, Andrea; two loving granddaughters, Nydrea and Ashley; sisters, Gloria and Theresa; nieces and nephews, Michael, Jill, Monica, Erica, Iyonnah, Joshua, Rahmad and Jaylin; a great granddog, Royal; and a host of other family and friends who loved her dearly.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Taylor and Ruth Williams; her son Joseph; and her sister, Janice.
