We celebrate the life of William Henry Jones Jr, 90, born March 22, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA, he earned his “WINGS” on Friday, May 6, 2022. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to William Jones Sr. (deceased) and Annabelle Maddox (deceased). He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support. He loved the lord and was saved. God has always been a huge part of his life from serving as a deacon, he sang on the male choir, a servant on the men’s auxiliary board and was an Usher at Zion Baptist church.
William was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend Marlene (deceased) in Philadelphia, PA. William raised three daughters with patience, discipline and humility. William was a husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. William was a world traveler, an athlete, work-out fanatic, boxer, artist, lover of cars and a sharp dresser. He was kind, soft spoken and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem no matter how small.
With all these responsibilities it never took him away from his mission to serve others. William dedicated his life’s work to serving others. He entered the United States Army at the age of 18, he served as a Sergeant in the Army until he was honorably discharged. He worked at Roosevelt elementary school and retired from environmental services. He served his country, touched so many lives and served God’s purpose. William was loved by many and will be missed by all.
He leaves to treasure his memory: Loving daughters Jennifer, Valerie and Monica (Kenneth Smith); a wonderful sister Sandy; brother Reginald; grandchildren Keita, Melody and Thomas (Tiffany Burton); 6 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his Father William Sr, Mother Annamae, Wife Marlene, Sisters Emma, Alice and Lillian and Brother and best friend Richard.
